SOEN's new studio album Reliance, is out today via Silver Lining Music.

With Reliance, their seventh studio album, the Swedish progressive metal powerhouse, spearheaded by Joel Ekelöf (vocals) and Martin Lopez (drums), continue to find incredible new pathways into the spatial areas between light and dark, loud and calm, heavy and soothing. And with its seamless march across deeply human emotional terrain, SOEN’s music continues to explore the human mind, heart, and soul with a visionary duty of care, plus an extra edge of heavy.

With Lars Enok Åhlund (keyboards & guitar), Cody Lee Ford (guitar), and Stefan Stenberg (bass) standing shoulder to shoulder with Ekelöf and Lopez, the lush continual evolution of SOEN’s sound soars.

The first single released ‘Primal’, is a provoking, barrel-chested roar detailing the existential fight between the human spirit and our current world. The second single ‘Mercenary’, is a track that channels the weight of inherited violence and the personal cost of conviction with unflinching clarity. The recently released third single ‘Discordia’ takes the listener on a musical exploration, juxtaposing lush sombre moments with crushing waves of relentless propulsion. Watch/listen to the singles here. (‘Primal’ and ‘Mercenary’ videos by Freakshot Film, ‘Discordia’ video by Linda Florin).

Reliance is out now via Silver Lining Music. Available as a CD, 12” Vinyl Album in Black and colour variants, digital formats and special D2C products and bundles. To listen/order, go to this location.

Thoughtful, provocative, beautiful and brutal, Reliance is a journey you need to take.

ATLANTIS is a special concert film featuring thirteen of the group’s most popular compositions reinterpreted with live orchestral accompaniment. ATLANTIS was created within the mystic and magical confines of Atlantis Grammofon Studio in Stockholm, Sweden, which has seen a wide range of international artists record, from Quincy Jones to Lenny Kravitz to Green Day. Formerly a movie house in 1941, it went on to become Metronome Studio (during which time ABBA was born) before becoming Atlantis Grammofon in 1983..

Filmed and recorded on December 10th 2021, Martin Lopez (drums & percussion), Joel Ekelöf (lead vocals), Lars Enok Åhlund (guitars & piano), Cody Lee Ford (lead guitar) and Oleksii “Zlatoyar” Kobel (bass) worked together with an 8-piece orchestra to reinterpret and rediscover fresh energy and elements in classic Soen songs, such as “Antagonist”, “Monarch”, “Jinn” and “Lucidity”, as well as introducing a stunning interpretation of Slipknot’s deeply dark meditation on darkness rejecting love, “Snuff”. The end result of this 80 minutes performance is some remarkable new aural refractions of Soen’s greatest material for fans to absorb and enjoy. As has always been the way with Soen: the deepest dives yield the greatest treasures.

“‘ATLANTIS’ undeniably proves that SOEN's music can be as breathtaking, poignant and ultimately beautiful in an acoustic live setting as it is imposing, crunching and thunderous in their studio releases. These guys are truly masters of combining emotion and strength, power and atmosphere in their own unique way” – SONIC PERSPECTIVES
“Flawless and sublime… So delightful and satisfying, you could listen to this endlessly and still be just as excited as the first time hearing it.” FISTFUL OF METAL
“ATLANTIS is a deep dive into SOEN's artistic soul” – A&P REACTS
“Intimate, prog and atmospheric” – ROCK HARD ITALY
“An Absolute gem” – WANTLIST
"Not so much a different spin but emphatically one that adds a new and enlightening perspective and dimension to the Soen catalogue 9/10” – POWER PLAY
“Stop signs for the restless world” – STARKSTROM
“This concert film of Soen is a definite must see” - HeadBangers LifeStyle
“Starring on 'Atlantis' is guitarist Cody Lee Ford, who comes up with one beautiful solo after another.” - AARDSHOK

ATLANTIS was recorded by David Castillo and Iñaki Marconi, mixed by Castillo, and mastered by Tony Lindgren. The performance was filmed and directed by George Laycock from the bespoke British production house Blacktide Phonic/Visual.

The new album has a potent drive and sees the band channel the ills of current society with a crisp, riff heavy ferocity but at the same time still showcasing Soen’s unique blend of progression, aggression, and beauty. Memorial is drenched in melody with face-crushing guitars and rhythms from start to finish. Album opener ‘Sincere’ starts off with relentless propulsion, whilst the sheer power of the title track is enriched with a solid groove, underlying the weighty tones and evocative vocals of Joel Ekelöf. Finishing with the beautiful, tragic, Pink Floyd-esque ballad ‘Vitals’, Memorial is arguably the band finding their best stride yet. Soen have been building up to this moment for years and now they’re here with Memorial, which is an inspiring modern hard rock classic.
